I’ve always loved the creativity of fashion and the thrill of designing new clothes, but at the same time I’ve always been passionate about vintage.  So while I looooove designer clothes of a bygone era, the pieces that inspire and mean the most to me are the few things that I kept from my Lola (grandma) Lucy. I recently unearthed one of of her dresses–a green shift dress with tiny embroidered daisies–and thought that the vintage vibe would look absolutely perfect for summer 2019.

With the homogenous onslaught and wastefulness of fast-fashion, the idea of breathing new life into unique pieces from years gone by has a new mindfulness to it. Why add to the landfills when we can re-imagine things and wear them in new ways? So with a few adjustments (I tailored the dress and shortened it to fit me better since I’m petite and my Lola was a good 3 inches taller than me), matched with an acrylic beaded bag from the 50’s that she owned, and my own ‘vintage’ Jean Paul Gaulter x Melissa boots, I was ready to consciously take the best of my past and re-fashion it for current times 🙂

I would love to know, how would you re-imagine a much loved vintage item that you owned? (You can also follow me and drop me a note on instagram!)
