In honor of Father’s Day, I posted one of my favorite ‘Pop Pieces’ from years ago, a backless halter top I designed from men’s silk ties when I was just starting out as a designer. Mens clothing has always been a favorite treasure trove of inspiration for me, taking something intrinsically masculine–like a tie, a barong tagalog, or a suit–and making it unmistakably feminine is always fun and interesting. Playing with opposites, creating contrasts and juxtaposing elements is one of the things I enjoy doing most in my designs 🙂
