Inspirational Person of the Day

A not-by-the-book look–inspiration is everywhere! A snapshot of the muses who inspire me… There are people who never fail to inspire, even after they have passed on, and my grandmother was one of them. Her indomitable spirit (and Katharine Hepburn style) uplifts, encourages, motivates, energizes and influences me to this day, exactly five years after she was called Home. And her contagious joie de vivre continues to push me and provoke me to stretch beyond limits and to always live life to the fullest…with a whole lot of love & laughter! 😉 Bookmark on Delicious Digg this post Recommend on Facebook share via Reddit Share with Stumblers Tweet about it Subscribe to the comments on this...

Lightening Up

Five months and counting…on October of last year, on my birthday, I decided to stop coloring my hair dark and slowly start lightening up & growing out my silver highlights. I even wrote about it for the Philippine Star’s Y-style section (read my blog entry here Hot Strands: Silver Streaks). It was daunting at first since I’ve had dark hair all my life (and I even kept a bottle of L’Oreal Excellence Natural Brown #5 on hand in case I changed my mind) but I found myself enjoying the style changes and really loving the transition process… Since I...

Pretty in Pink

Sorbet shades are all the rage this summer, and an interesting way to wear these cool, icy colors is to spice them up with an accent of hot, fiery hues. So if pink (or anything pastel) seems too pretty  & precious for you, simply mix them up with something a little more grown up–like combining this pale pink peplum with a deep red shade, or mixing a pastel peach dress with a fiery orange color. Adding a little contrast (and even some black) is all it takes to turn a girlish shade into something a little more womanly 😉...

“Astigirl” and International Women’s Day

What better way to celebrate International Women’s Day than by being in the company of some truly inspiring, awesome women AND doing something for the very first time? Yesterday, March 8, I joined five other women who were all invited to give a talk (my first ever! It was nerve-wracking!) on how we defined being an “Astigirl”. This was to celebrate the first anniversary of my friend, Tweet Sering’s, launch of her book “Astigirl” (a grown girl living on her own terms) which kicked off its first series of talks last year. With my super-talented, beautiful, firecracker-of-a-friend, Tweet Sering,...

Inspirational Photo of the Day

A not-by-the-book look–inspiration is everywhere!  Random snapshots of things found around the city that get the creative juices flowing… Ito Ocampo’s photo “Dance” (check out the other photos here on Behance Network) It’s Women’s Month, and there’s much to honor about women everywhere. I find my design inspirations and muses in the women that surround me everyday–from the women I just meet, to those I’ve known for a lifetime, to those I don’t know but feel an affinity to. These are strong women who support, nurture and care for each other, as well as provoke, instigate and catalyze change. This photo of a dancer is one of my favorite photos celebrating femininity, grace, creative energy and the beauty and power of being a woman.
