I am so, so, so in love with this Bloom Chair by world-renowned Filipino furniture designer Kenneth Cobonpue! It is just too gorgeous for words–it has just the right amount of prettiness, comfort and wit thrown in the mix. Ito and I have been fixing up our home lately, so we’ve been dreaming up some renovations and browsing around for furniture. I can imagine feeling like a shrunken Alice (in Wonderland) while sitting on this chair. Handmade of microfiber and with a steel base, its price tag of US$2,465 is beyond my furniture budget for a single chair, but the price for visualizing is absolutely free (along with posting an image on my vision board)! I do hope I get the chance to visit his showroom/factory the next time I’m in Cebu though–his design vision is just so incredibly inspiring.
Over the years, flowers and vegetables have been a favorite source of inspiration for me like the ‘cabbage’ dress and ‘gumamela’ gown below, so this chair just really took my breath away 🙂
Thanks so much Ming! I really admire Kenneth’s design approach–everything is informed by his environment in Cebu. His name doesn’t sound Pinoy, but his vision is distinctly Filipino!
I love his chairs too, very whimsical:) heard he’s from UP too sana pinoy sounding din ang name nya ano he hehe:) i love your flora-inspired designs too which are archived for posterity in your “not by the book ” book:)
I think the chair doesn’t cost that much if bought from Cebu. Try inquiring at http://www.kennethcobonpue.com I got a few pieces from them last year, and they had pinoy-friendly prices. Good luck!
Really?? That’s fantastic!!! Will do–thanks so much for the tip 🙂
