Pretty in Pink

Sorbet shades are all the rage this summer, and an interesting way to wear these cool, icy colors is to spice them up with an accent of hot, fiery hues. So if pink (or anything pastel) seems too pretty & precious for you, simply mix them up with something a little more grown up–like combining this pale pink peplum with a deep red shade, or mixing a pastel peach dress with a fiery orange color. Adding a little contrast (and even some black) is all it takes to turn a girlish shade into something a little more womanly 😉...

What better way to celebrate International Women’s Day than by being in the company of some truly inspiring, awesome women AND doing something for the very first time? A not-by-the-book look–inspiration is everywhere! Random snapshots of things found around the city that get the creative juices flowing… Ito Ocampo’s photo “Dance” (check out the other photos here on Behance Network) It’s Women’s Month, and there’s much to honor about women everywhere. I find my design inspirations and muses in the women that surround me everyday–from the women I just meet, to those I’ve known for a lifetime, to those I don’t know but feel an affinity to. These are strong women who support, nurture and care for each other, as well as provoke, instigate and catalyze change. This photo of a dancer is one of my favorite photos celebrating femininity, grace, creative energy and the beauty and power of being a woman. I love Sundays and I love surprises, so when they come together it makes for a really feel-good end to the week. Today I realized just how blessed we are each day by the people we come in contact with–those we meet, work with, make a connection to. A not-by-the-book look–inspiration is everywhere! Random snapshots of things found around the city that get the creative juices flowing… Speaking of nostalgia…Manila, Manila–there ain’t no place like Manila! From Bonifacio’s High Street, we drove down memory lane the other day (or as most people call it, Roxas Boulevard). Historic, chaotic and iconic, nothing says classic Filipino like the city of Manila. Everything about it is symbolic almost to the point of cliché, from the monument of Rizal, to the kalesas that ply the streets, to the sunset, to the potted palms and brass & capiz chandeliers of Manila Hotel. If there’s one working city that can be turned–almost in its entirety–into a heritage site, it’s Manila!
