What’s Old is New Again

Antique finishes and vintage styles are in vogue again. I’ve always thought some things look better with age, and in my opinion, leather is one of them. Let me correct myself…I love leather when it’s in pristine condition and has that amazingly intoxicating new smell…and then I love it again when it’s old and has finally acquired that beautiful weathered patina (the in-between stage, when it’s only slightly scuffed up, is what I’m not so fond of). While clearing out my closet the other day, I came across a stash of my old stuff from my college days (!!!)...

Inspirational Photo of the Day

(Photo by Ito Ocampo) Postcard from…the walled city of Intramuros. We don’t always have to travel far to get inspired. Sometimes the most amazing sights are right in our own backyard! The other day, while watching the sun set over distant cranes on the port, tiled rooftops, domed cathedrals andย  centuries-old fortress walls, I realized that Manila is a beautiful, interesting, historic city. One that’s truly stimulating and uplifting–sometimes frustrating but always inspiring. Sometimes we forget this! In our rush to search for all things new and ‘fabulous’, we often miss the beauty of what’s been there all along. Happy to call the whole of Manila my home ๐Ÿ™‚ Happy Sunday, everyone! Modern Maria Clara

I’ve been loving the Maria Clara silhouette for some time now, and while the terno’s butterfly sleeves still reign as the queen bee of Filipiniana fashion, I feel that the Maria Clara has a soft, pretty, feminine style that works well with modern times. It’s easy to wear, easy to move in, easy to store–and a woman can actually lift her arms with these sleeves! LOL. So what do you ladies think about the Maria Clara? Fashion Tips: Instant Peplum

While dressing up this morning, I thought of turning my basic, slightly masculine shirt into something more feminine. Instead of a belt, I used a 1 1/4″ thick, black, satin ribbon tied in a bow at my waist. Voila! An instant ‘peplum’ to wear everyday. Try it over a loose T, a chiffon tunic, or any simple, flowy top that you own. Cheap, easy and super quick ๐Ÿ˜‰ PS- I love black satin ribbon and always have a roll (or two) of it on hand. I use it for tying around gifts and as a curtain tie-back as well!...

The Wedding Dress

Love is in the air and as the June showers come raining down, so do the promises and vows of everlasting devotion. While many girls dream of walking down the aisle in a big, show-stopping, bouffant wedding ballgown, my heart has always stopped at the beautiful lines and dreamy prettiness of a wedding dress. Whether a flowy sheath, a tea-length full skirt, or an elegant column, wedding dresses have an ease and free-spirited feel about them that I absolutely love!
