Beach Bonding

Spending time with family is always one of the most precious gifts we can give each other, and family time on a beautiful beach…what could be better than that?? Last year we had a great time on the powder-white sands of Boracay, and this year we ventured a little further and reveled in the pristine aqua waters and lush greens of Palawan. The adventure began as soon as we boarded our tiny propeller plane that took us for a thrilling (and slightly bumpy) 80 minute ride from take-off til we landed on the long stretch of dirt on the...

Is it Summer Yet?

…because it sure feels like it! And even though we don’t officially hit the summer season until the calendar says ‘April’, the weather and temperature have been saying otherwise and insistently beckoning us to the beach. So since life’s too short, ‘carpe diem’, and all that, my mother, John, Ito and I ditched work since Monday morning, said ‘adieu’ to the insane Manila traffic, and hied off to Palawan to play truant and commune with nature. One of my favorite places on earth, Palawan is a place where nature’s beauty, both above and below the water, is the main...

Inspirational Photo of the Day

A not-by-the-book look–inspiration is everywhere!  Random snapshots of things found around the city that get the creative juices flowing… Glistening raindrops on a sunny day…I snapped a pic of this beautiful, kinetic glass sculpture while hurrying down Bonifacio High Street and was unable to get the name of the artist (if anyone knows who created this, please drop me a note!). I love how it just seems like a moment frozen in time…or like being in the “Matrix” and getting caught in a sudden rainstorm, but moving so fast that the raindrops are just immobile around you, LOL! Either way, it’s beautiful. That’s what’s amazing about art–even for just a fraction of time, it takes us out of the ordinary and places us where all things are possible. Inspirational Person of the Day

A not-by-the-book look–inspiration is everywhere! A snapshot of the muses who inspire me… There are people who never fail to inspire, even after they have passed on, and my grandmother was one of them. Her indomitable spirit (and Katharine Hepburn style) uplifts, encourages, motivates, energizes and influences me to this day, exactly five years after she was called Home. And her contagious joie de vivre continues to push me and provoke me to stretch beyond limits and to always live life to the fullest…with a whole lot of love & laughter! 😉 Bookmark on Delicious Digg this post Recommend on Facebook share via Reddit Share with Stumblers Tweet about it Subscribe to the comments on this...

Lightening Up

Five months and counting…on October of last year, on my birthday, I decided to stop coloring my hair dark and slowly start lightening up & growing out my silver highlights. I even wrote about it for the Philippine Star’s Y-style section (read my blog entry here Hot Strands: Silver Streaks). It was daunting at first since I’ve had dark hair all my life (and I even kept a bottle of L’Oreal Excellence Natural Brown #5 on hand in case I changed my mind) but I found myself enjoying the style changes and really loving the transition process… Since I...
