Andy Warhol’s “15 Minutes Eternal” exhibit turned Ito and me into cat-burglars of sorts, sneaking stolen shots where we weren’t supposed to. But, hopefully, given Andy’s predilection for breaking rules and thumbing his nose at the establishment through his art, he wouldn’t mind too much :-p

From his early beginnings as a fashion & advertising illustrator, through his trajectory as a painter, film maker, multi-media artist and all around Factory wizard/Pop icon, Andy Warhol’s work has inspired me greatly because of its insistence on celebrating what most people would consider ordinary. I remember discovering his work as an art student in college and being blown away by his art’s ability to cross boundaries, bridging the common and the extraordinary, the vulgar and the tasteful, the commercial and the high brow. I loved how his work was playful and provocative and found beauty in both the glamorous and the pedestrian. Definitely something I aspire to! 🙂
