Today was another fulfilling–but exhausting–day working, while fixing and organizing my workshop, and at the same time clearing out my online files. I came across this video of the ‘Fashionable Asia’ show which I was invited to be a part of six years ago. Six years ago, can you believe, but the production values are still amazing 🙂 I hope you don’t mind my saving it from oblivion and sharing it here again (this clip is the entire portion of the Philippine segment and opened with four of my designs chosen by the show’s curator, renowned Paris fashion historian Lydia Kamitsis).

This fashion spectacle had 40 designers from 20 Asian countries for a VIP audience at the 15th Asian Games in Doha, Qatar in 2006, and was put together by a Who’s Who in Paris fashion events. Produced by La Mode En Images (which has produced shows for John Galliano, Louis Vuitton, Valentino, Givenchy, Christian Dior and Balenciaga), directed by Olivier Massart (whose past projects included the Eiffel Tower’s centennial and the Yves Saint Laurent special event), curated by Lydia Kamitsis, and choreographed by multi-awarded Kader Belarbi, it highlighted the journey of Asian fashion from past to present. Presenting contemporary designs of traditional cultures, it showed designs from Asian designers including Vivienne Tam and Kenzo Takada, and creations from Philippine designers Rajo Laurel, Joel Bautista, and myself.
