Handmade ceramic ware and vintage china are some of my favorite things to use, as well as to have around the house or drawing room as temporary ‘still life’ arrangements. Mixing them with modern china is also interesting, much like mixing in vintage pieces with modern clothes–I feel it adds a certain depth to a table setting (as it does to an outfit). My favorites are the china I inherited from my grandmother and grandaunt because their designs are no longer in production (although the tea set I got from our artist-neighbor Tensie Bello is also one-of-a-kind). The pieces here–vintage china on top, artist-sculpted on the bottom–are pretty, but minimalist in design, which is also a great look for clothes!
i love lanelle abueva’s ceramic art also , was able to get a tea pot set last time i went to crescent moon, antipolo and a very affordable price for an artwork too. i love your ceramic ware too tippi, most especially the top image wherein the clay artist made use of creasing marks on the clay to serve imaginary handles . Its a good heirloom as well:)
Ming, the pieces you like are my grandma’s set from Japan–there were so many vintage pieces I wanted to buy from the flea market in Tokyo, but it would have been too heavy (not to mention breakable!). Thanks for your tip on Crescent Moon, I’ll check it out one of these weekends 🙂
