Fashion Where You Find It

Fashion moments can show themselves in the most unexpected places, and real life fashion–candidly captured–often inspires designers with their unstudied style and beauty. Once, while in the mall, I caught sight of an older couple on an escalator…she was wearing her hair wrapped in a turban with lounge-y pants, while he was wearing a navy linen blazer and light pants. So stylish! At another time, on a small island off Palawan, I saw a beautiful French girl in a modest bikini, take her cotton sarong and nonchalantly throw it over her shoulders and twist it, like it was an...

Sunday Island Dreaming: El Nido

It’s an overcast, rainy Sunday today, so as I’m sitting curled up with a cup of espresso, I’m daydreaming as I blog about our recent fun-in-the-sun El Nido adventure with family. It’s always a lot of fun going on trips with the people you love the most, and if you’re lucky and enjoy the same activities, then so much the better. Here are a few of the activities and favorite postcard-moments from our trip…hope you enjoy them! 🙂 Kayaking through turquoise lagoons where we spotted a small spotted eagle ray & baby black-tipped shark… Bird watching! Loved these dramatic...

Beach Bonding

Spending time with family is always one of the most precious gifts we can give each other, and family time on a beautiful beach…what could be better than that?? Last year we had a great time on the powder-white sands of Boracay, and this year we ventured a little further and reveled in the pristine aqua waters and lush greens of Palawan. The adventure began as soon as we boarded our tiny propeller plane that took us for a thrilling (and slightly bumpy) 80 minute ride from take-off til we landed on the long stretch of dirt on the...

Is it Summer Yet?

…because it sure feels like it! And even though we don’t officially hit the summer season until the calendar says ‘April’, the weather and temperature have been saying otherwise and insistently beckoning us to the beach. So since life’s too short, ‘carpe diem’, and all that, my mother, John, Ito and I ditched work since Monday morning, said ‘adieu’ to the insane Manila traffic, and hied off to Palawan to play truant and commune with nature. One of my favorite places on earth, Palawan is a place where nature’s beauty, both above and below the water, is the main...

Inspirational Photo of the Day

A not-by-the-book look–inspiration is everywhere!  Random snapshots of things found around the city that get the creative juices flowing… Glistening raindrops on a sunny day…I snapped a pic of this beautiful, kinetic glass sculpture while hurrying down Bonifacio High Street and was unable to get the name of the artist (if anyone knows who created this, please drop me a note!). I love how it just seems like a moment frozen in time…or like being in the “Matrix” and getting caught in a sudden rainstorm, but moving so fast that the raindrops are just immobile around you, LOL! Either way, it’s beautiful. That’s what’s amazing about art–even for just a fraction of time, it takes us out of the ordinary and places us where all things are possible.
