Month: January 2012

Addicted to Red Lips

Tomorrow is February, and we might as well face it, we’re addicted to love. And to all things red, crimson, scarlet, vermillion, rose, ruby, wine, coral, cerise, cardinal and carmine (I checked my thesaurus, as you can tell). So while we may outwardly rebel against the more commercial aspects of the month, inwardly we all long for that most elemental and basic of needs…that perfect, sublime shade of red to fall head-over-heels in love with 😉 Click here for Robert Palmer’s “Addicted to Love” video The now-iconic ‘Robert Palmer Girl’ first got us addicted to tight dresses, smokey eyes & perfect glossy, red lips For a 2012 version, wear red lips with polished, but barely-there make-up Salvador Dalí created an ode to Mae West’s lips with this red sofa One of my favorite designs was this “Lips” dress I created for Alliance Française’s Traits très mode years ago Bookmark on Delicious Digg this post Recommend on Facebook share via Reddit Share with Stumblers Tweet about it Subscribe to the comments on this...

Inspirational Photo of the Day

A not-by-the-book look–inspiration is everywhere!  Random snapshots of things found around the city that get the creative juices flowing… “The Trees”, Reynato Paz Still one of my all-time favorite pieces of public sculpture in Bonifacio Global City, this life-sized metal sculpture of intertwined trees sits at the center of Burgos Circle.  People walk around it, kids & dogs play under it, birds fly through it…it’s a piece that invites everyone to touch and interact with it instead of merely admiring it from afar.  Love it! 🙂 Bookmark on Delicious Digg this post Recommend on Facebook share via Reddit Share with Stumblers Tweet about it Subscribe to the comments on this...

Lazy Sundays

Sundays are the perfect days for sleeping in, lazing around, reading a book, or doing absolutely nothing at all. Like a palate-cleansing sorbet, Sundays are purifying and refreshing, clearing out the residual energies of the past week in preparation for the week to come.  Sunday fashion reflects this, with its laid-back, casual style.  Duster shifts, tunic tops and pajama dressing are all perfect ways to ease into relaxed fashion that’s perfect for browsing the weekend markets, enjoying a leisurely brunch or just chilling at home. Duster shift dresses are cool & relaxed for laid back Sundays Tunics allow you to breathe while you laze around at home Luxe lounge wear at Louis Vuitton Resort 2012 / Audrey Tautou in “Coco Avant Chanel” So go ahead…unplug, put your feet up and just do nothing today.  Never underestimate the rejuvenating power of a good day’s rest.  Happy Sunday everyone! 🙂 Bookmark on Delicious Digg this post Recommend on Facebook share via Reddit Share with Stumblers Tweet about it Subscribe to the comments on this...

Favorite Fashion Illustrations

Speaking of fashion illustrations, Christian Lacroix has one of my all-time favorite styles of illustrating (not to mention designing–I was so sad when he closed shop!).  His sketches are flights of the imagination, colorful, whimsical, almost like doodles, and they never fail to inspire me.  They’re so pretty, I could stare at them all day 🙂 (Christian Lacroix illustrations from Luxirare)   Bookmark on Delicious Digg this post Recommend on Facebook share via Reddit Share with Stumblers Tweet about it Subscribe to the comments on this...

Friday Fashion Fun

It’s Friday!  Time to poke a little fun at fashion…this was too cute not to share 🙂  Since fashion is full of characters, it didn’t take long before Milan-based illustrator, Alexsandro Palombo, re-imagined some of the international fashion industry’s most influential characters into…well, Simpsons characters (from Vogue UK, more from the gallery here): Marge Simpson as Coco Chanel Marge Simpson as Donatella Versace Homer Simpson as Alber Elbaz Homer Simpson as Marc Jacobs Homer Simpson as Karl Lagerfeld Marge Simpson as Grace Coddington Marge Simpson as Anna Wintour Bookmark on Delicious Digg this post Recommend on Facebook share via Reddit Share with Stumblers Tweet about it Subscribe to the comments on this...
